PGCH Maggidan's Minis Lil' Queen got her final championship leg at the Festival of Pygmies Show in Greensboro, NC on November 17.  Judge Jennifer Sanderson gave her the win.  She is only our third PGCH in our herdname, although we have many goats with grand champion wins.  Our show goats are our breeding goats and so often aren't in condition for the showring when they are home raising (or making!) babies.  But Queen could pretty much do both at the same time.  Here is a fairly recent picture, hope you like "blonds".  Look for her in the Parade of Champions Champion Challenge competition for title of 2008 National Champion Doe at the NPGA 2008 Convention in Perry, GA.

Maggidans Milker was invented by Dan Dawson and Maggie Leman and is farm and show tested.  There is another hand milking device on the market, but it is not small enough to easily fit underneath miniature goats such as Pygmies, Nigerian Dwarves, and Miniature Dairy Goats.  Ours fits little goats perfectly, yet can be easily modified to fit nearly any livestock and is less expensive!  If you save one kid by being able to easily and quickly milk colostrum, this device will pay for itself.  It makes hand milking MUCH easier, so you too can enjoy the benefits of drinking milk from your own goats and having real goat's milk for your special bottle babies. Now you can have a closed system like a "real" milking machine!  We carry 3 sizes, 1 pint and 2 quarts and 1 gallon.  These come with custom vented lids and the required hose to attach your pump.  They are made of tough food grade plastic and are lightweight and easy to clean.

Inline Milk Filters! We have developed an inline milk filter to assure smooth pump operation.  Some clients have experienced a problem with the pump valves malfunctioning due to a tiny obstruction.  Our special inline filter should put a stop to that and the inconvenience it causes.  They are just $3.95, cheap insurance!

The Proposed NPGA Linear Appraisal and Evaluation Program

An ad hoc committee has been formed to explore the value of creating a Linear Appraisal and Evaluation program for the NPGA.  The committee has been charged with creating a Score sheet and Guidelines for Scoring important Linear Traits and the Category Traits of pygmy goats.  It has also been charged with educating the NPGA members about the potential value of such a program for pygmy goats.  Programs like this are already used by many Breed Associations such as for beef and dairy cattle, and dairy goats.  They give their breeders a chance to have their breeding stock thoroughly evaluated by skilled and impartial Appraisers.  Since the goats are not competing against each other there are no "winners'" or "losers" only a complete picture of the goat's traits and attributes.
